The Project

In 2012, a large-scale project was born with the aim of promoting the exceptional heritage of European historic theatres. Initiated by Perspectiv and supported by the European Union's Culture programme, this project has led to the opening of different routes allowing the public to discover numerous theatrical wonders in all four corners of the continent. As the operator of one of the finest theatres in Europe, the National Opera of Bordeaux was asked to head up the creation of the French Route. Twelve iconic theatres representing French heritage were selected after a year and a half of work on the project.
