    In the Grand Theatre 1870-1960

    Inaugurated in 1780, the Grand Theatre of Bordeaux boasts an uninterrupted history of artistic activity over more than two centuries. Put together by Luc Bourrousse, the daily calendars present a day-by-day record of every artistic season. They have been compiled from technical documents, programmes and periodicals conserved in the Bordeaux Municipal Archives and the Bordeaux Library, and list all the public shows performed in the Grand Theatre under the direction of the theatre’s own management or that of other organizations.

    Season by season, the calendar is updated regularly and added to with a view to eventually covering the whole period from the opening of the Grand Theatre to its closure for the last restoration campaign in 1990 and 1991.

    Inauguré en 1780, le Grand-Théâtre de Bordeaux est riche d’une activité artistique ininterrompue pendant plus de deux siècles. Reconstituées par Luc Bourrousse, les éphémérides présentent, saison par saison, le tableau quotidien de cette activité. Elles ont été reconstituées au moyen des documents techniques, programmes et périodiques conservés aux Archives municipales de Bordeaux et à la Bibliothèque de Bordeaux. Elles concernent toutes les manifestations publiques présentées au Grand-Théâtre sous l’égide de la direction de celui-ci ou celle d’autres organisations.

    Au cours des saisons, ces éphémérides seront régulièrement mises à jour et enrichies pour couvrir à terme toute la période allant de l’ouverture du Grand-Théâtre à sa fermeture pour la dernière campagne de restauration de 1990-1991.
